Entire village name was deleted from 2002 Sir list.
Entire village around 900 citizen name is gone missing in the Potagachi village of Ektarpur Panchayat,Balagarh(Hooghly district) from the record of 2002 voter list which lead to widespread fear and confusion among the voter for losing their voting rights altogether.
   Similar type of incidents came under notice in Khunti village of (North Dinajpur),Where 314 villager discovered that their name was not present in 2002 voter list online record.although there name was present in offline record or in the printed record and citizen had there voter id card also.residents had reported the issue to the commission.Nadia district’s Char jatarasiddhi also witnessed similar issues due to river erosion and migration,over thousands resident name gone missing which lead panic about exclusion from new voter records.
Cause and consequence
Too much dependency in 2002 voter list as as a reference.factor contribution including cleatical errors, digitization mistake and migration, natural calamities and illegal infiltration.Ruling party blaming central government and Election commision for omission of muslim voter who are basically a core voter of ruling tmc govt.
Election response
District official acknowledge all the complaint and assured them special measures, including verification camp and details review of available documents of the citizen.Election comission further assured genuine voter name must be added in the record, every effort will made by ec to include genuine indian voter in the New voter list.
